Wear something orange tomorrow
Check out the accompanying photo. Were you there? Indivisible Ferndale was. The date was March 14, 2018. The event was “March for Our Lives” held in Arcata and around the world. The purpose was to remember the deaths of 17 people at Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida who were gunned down exactly one month before. The message to our elected leaders was “Enough Is Enough.”
Along with Indivisible Ferndale were visiting members of Kathleen and Tom Bullard’s family, their daughter, Shelly and her husband, Doug. In the photo, you can see standing in front of Kathleen and Tom, their granddaughters, Alison and Samantha, holding the signs “Students Demand Action.” The march through a windy, chilly and wet Arcata with thousands of other community members inspired Shelly to become involved in a local chapter of “Wear Orange” in her community.
Wear Orange is a national organization to “raise awareness about gun violence.” You can find out more about Wear Orange here.
According to the Wear Orange website: “We all must come together and take a stand against the deadly mix of guns, white supremacy, and racism. Join us in wearing orange for national gun violence awareness day on June 5.”
So tomorrow, find something orange to wear in solidarity with this movement because “Enough is Enough!”
Stay safe and strong because Together, We are Indivisible!
