On Saturday, May 5 and Sunday, May 6, Indivisible Ferndale volunteers participated in registration, marathon support and the IF information table at this year’s Avenue of the Giants Marathon. (See more photos here.)
Thank you IF Volunteers!
Information table volunteers were John and Barbara Vernon, Kerry and Joe Chartkoff, Pat Lydon and Karen Burkhardt and Susan Diehl-McCarthy. Special thanks to Susan for creating and printing our IF collateral and banner and Karen for her copy editing skills!
Thank you to the following IF members who provided the treats at our table: Lori Knowles, Kathleen Bullard, Pat Lydon, Karen Burkhardt, Mary Ann Bansen, Susan Aste, Sylvia Tubb, Barbara Vernon and the very nice couple who brought “mini wheat apple muffins” to our front door on Friday. Please let me know who you are so that I can properly “Thank you!” Thanks to all of the above, we raised $257.50 for Indivisible Ferndale!
Marathon Registration and Support volunteers
Race registration on Saturday was handled by Ed Leshied, Pete and Mary Ann Bansen and Susan Aste with Pat jumping in to give breaks.
On Race Day Sunday, Doug and Karen Olsen, Sylvia Tubb and Stephen Avis worked the finish line counting the first 10 runners in every race. Early risers at registration were Mike Goldsby and Lydia DeZordo and Mary Ann. Thanks to Mary Ann who volunteered for that second last-minute shift. (Susan Aste owes her a breakfast :)) Also early risers were Jim Aste and Martin Tubb at the Bull Creek turnaround and Susan Aste and Jim Stretch at Myers Flat. Thanks, Jim, for showing up at 6:30 am to keep Susan company and direct traffic at the Myers Flat turnaround. And thank you to Tom and Kathleen Bullard and our newest IF member, Kristi Fellows, who came out to Myers Flat to help cheer on the runners and stayed until the last one made the turnaround. Thanks to ALL of the above volunteers, IF raised another $1300!
