Thank you, Indivisible Ferndale, for making our fundraiser on Saturday, February 29 for CR’s Redwoods Room & Board Scholarship Fund a success that exceeded our expectations! Over 120 folks attended and helped raise over $7,000 for the CR program! You can view photos in the right hand sidebar of our website.
According to Marty Coelho, Executive Director for the the CR Foundation, $7,000 will provide room and board for three students over the course of a school year. View an update regarding the program here.
We could not have done this without the incredible work from our fundraising committee which includes Susan Diehl-McCarthy (chair), Kathleen Bullard, Karen Burkhardt, Susan Aste, Jessica Stretch, Jan Appleton and Barbara and John Vernon.
I also need to thank our volunteers who helped set up the community center including everyone above and Donna McQueen, Chuck Bules, Pat Lydon, Vicki and Steve Bradford and Jim Aste.
Give it up for the incredible IF chefs -led by Kathleen Bullard: Barbara Vernon, Kerry Chartkoff, Vicki Bradford, Leslie Sweeney, Jackie Cory and Lydia DeZordo.
Thank you to our “bartending staff” which included Karen Burkhardt, Pat Lydon, Susan and Jim Aste.
Thank you, Stephen Avis, for being our “money manager” throughout the event which included running credit cards, handling cash and checks and pulling together all the financial pieces into one spreadsheet.
And thank you to ALL who contributed items for a silent auction! We could not have raised this amount of money without your generous donations. Check out a partial list here.
If you don’t believe me, ask anyone who attended or, better yet, here’s what the head of the CR Foundation and the CR president had to say:
“John – I wanted to thank Indivisible Ferndale and yourself for putting on a first class event last night! My wife and I had a great time. College of the Redwoods very much appreciates your group’s support of the Redwoods Room and Board Scholarship Program. In today’s world it’s nice to be surrounded by folks making a positive impact on the community. Thanks!”
Marty Coelho, MBA, Executive Director of College Advancement & the CR Foundation, College of the Redwoods
“Dear Mr. Vernon,
I want to thank you and Indivisible Ferndale for your support of our homeless students with the fundraising event on Saturday evening. I am sorry that my schedule did not allow me to attend; however, I understand that the event was fun and successful. Indivisible Ferndale is doing wonderful work for our community and for College of the Redwoods.”
Dr. Keith Flamer, President/Superintendent, College of the Redwoods
