GOTV volunteers needed to win in November
This past Thursday Indivisible Ferndale held its first virtual meeting. The topic was Get Out The Vote 2020. Our special guest was Rep. Jared Huffman. Jared answered questions from the more than 20 attendees from both Indivisible Ferndale and Fortuna for about 40 minutes. Jared stressed the importance of our involvement in this election.
John Vernon followed Jared with a presentation on Indivisible’s strategy to: Hold the House, Flip the Senate and Win back the White House.
John discussed four ways in which IF members could volunteer and reach out to voters in California and across our nation: Postcard Writing, Phone Banking, Text Banking and Letter Writing
For more information on each of these GOTV activities and a way to get involved, go to our Take Action webpage here and complete our volunteer form online.
A day to remember
Monday is Memorial Day. For the past 130 years, Ferndale has remembered the ultimate sacrifices made by those who have died protecting our democracy and country. Due to the state and county requirements to remain safe during the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no parade this year, but you can still show your support by standing along the route which local veterans will be driving to reach a private ceremony at the cemetery.
View the driving route map here.
In addition, a video including local speakers’ presentations is available to view here.
Wear a Mask New York Ad Contest
During his daily press briefings, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo continues to urge New Yorkers to wear a mask. It shows respect for the others around you and helps stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
To take this message to another level, Governor Cuomo developed a Wear a Mask PSA contest. Over a two week period, the governor’s office received over 60 video submissions. His staff narrowed the playing field to five finalists.
Now, the voting polls are open. Over 65,000 votes have been cast online. You too can vote. You don’t even have to be a New Yorker.
Go here to view the five finalists’ videos and vote for your favorite. The polls close at the end of Memorial Day.
Stay Safe and Strong, Indivisible Ferndale!
