A final word about Benito Nunez-Rodriguez
Benito Nunez-Rodriguez, a local farm worker, died when the floodwaters of the Eel River overtook him on February 28. He is survived by his wife, Trina and their four children. His body has been flown home to Colima, Mexico where he will be buried. Read the North Coast Journal story here.
Indivisible Ferndale participated (over $700) in a gofundme campaign to raise money for his funeral expenses. Over $6,000 in total was raised by our community. An update was posted on the gofundme page by Jennifer Machado.
“Benito is on his way to mexico to be laid to rest! We raised a lot of money but not quite enough so a close family friend that lives locally is paying the rest of what needs to be paid to the mortuary . . . Thank you again!!!!”
This is who We are . . . the community of Ferndale.
