First a quick wrap up to February.
Thank you to Jim and Susan Aste for sharing their home with us this past Tuesday. Another 40 of you showed up to hear our guest speaker, Elizabeth Conner talk about Power Lunch. More on this later.
The very next day, 12 of us showed up at Jackie Cory’s home and received training on the Rapid Response Network. About 8 members of the Latino community attended as well to understand their rights.
This network will be activated when ICE is seen in our community. When we receive a text through the network, our job will be to arrive at the incident, observe the actions of ICE and report the specifics.
If you see ICE agents in our community, call the number on this flyer and help us keep our community safe!
March is here. Check out the IF Calendar and Action pages.
During our February general meeting last week, Elizabeth Conner, explained why and how Power Lunch works. Power Lunch meets at the Arcata Playhouse on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month to make calls to Members of Congress (MOCs) on important topics that affect us all. Elizabeth provides excellent summaries of the top issues, scripts to use and phone numbers to call.
The next Power Lunch in Arcata is this Thursday, March 8 from noon to 1:30 pm at the Arcata Playhouse. If you are interested in carpooling this Thursday, please contact us here or call John at 786-7172.
Indivisible Ferndale is interested in creating an Eel River Valley location for a sister Power Lunch. If you are interested in Power Lunch coming to the Eel River Valley, please contact us via email here or call John at 707-786-7172.
March for our Lives
In the aftermath of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shootings on February 14 of this year, the students have taken to the airwaves and social media to shout “Enough!” These students who survived this horrific event have created the “March for Our Lives” movement. This movement is truly of the young people, by the young people, and for the young people. The students of this Florida high school will march on our nation’s capital on Saturday, March 24.
384 sister events have been scheduled worldwide. One of those events will take place in Arcata. Indivisible Ferndale needs to support this effort. Carpooling will be available.
- Date: Saturday, March 24
- Time: noon to 3 pm
- Location: Arcata Playhouse
